NumloomCalculation setup — values are entered in Runner.Preview

Embroidery thread length by stitch count

Enter the meters of thread used per 1,000 embroidery stitches. The QR code and HTTPS link store this setting with the formula and update when you edit it. Open the calculation in Numloom on Android and enter the stitch count to estimate thread length in meters.

Calculations currently require access to Numloom on Google Play Internal Testing. iPhone and iPad support is planned.

Editable starting values, not standards or manufacturer recommendations. Check the values for your material or equipment.

How it works

Thread length = Number of embroidery stitches × Length per 1000 stitches ÷ 1000

In Numloom: “Number of embroidery stitches” → “Thread length”.

stitches → m

Length per 1000 stitches · m/1000 stitches

This page shows the formula and parameters. The calculation runs in Numloom.

Assumptions and limits

This estimate uses embroidery stitch count, not seam length. Thread use depends on the design, stitch type and machine settings. Measure a representative sample for the work you intend to run.

Coefficient sources

The initial 5 meters per 1,000 stitches is a technical example, not an industry standard or a manufacturer recommendation. Replace it with consumption measured for your design.
